Have a question about occupational therapy, how an assessment works, funding options or what to expect when working with ADL Therapies?

Below are some of the questions I'm asked most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please get in touch — I'm happy to have a chat and help you work out what support may be right for you.

Do I need a referral? No, you do not need a referral to be seen by an occupational therapist. Just contact me and discuss your need and we can schedule an appointment.

Do you work with children? No. ADL Therapies specialises in occupational therapy for adults and does not provide services to children under 17 years of age. This adult-focused approach allows my services to concentrate on the functional, environmental and participation needs that are important throughout adulthood.

Do you provide home visits? Yes. ADL Therapies is a mobile occupational therapy service, which means assessments will be completed in the person's home or another relevant environment. Seeing someone in their usual environment can provide valuable information about how they manage everyday activities and where barriers to independence may occur.

Can you complete Functional Capacity Assessments? Yes. At ADL Therapies, I take pride in creating comprehensive and high-quality NDIS reports to support you in accessing the services and funding you need. My expertise covers: - Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) - Assistive technology reports - Minor and complex home modifications reports - Supported Independent Living (SIL) reports - Other reports on consultation My reports are meticulously prepared to provide clear, accurate, and actionable recommendations. By combining clinical expertise with a person-centred approach, I ensure my reports not only meet NDIS requirements but also reflect your individual circumstances, empowering you to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Do you work with self managed and plan managed NDIS participants? Yes. ADL Therapies can work with both self managed and plan managed NDIS participants. If you are unsure whether occupational therapy is included in your NDIS plan, I can discuss your needs and the type of assessment or support you are seeking.

Can you assess for home modifications? Yes. ADL Therapies can complete occupational therapy assessments for home modifications where changes to the home environment may improve safety, accessibility and independence. Recommendations are based on the individual's functional needs, the layout of the home and the activities they need to complete within their environment. Bek holds post grad qualifications to appropriately assess and prescribe home modifications to best suit your needs, circumstances and environment.

Can you assess and recommend assistive technology? Yes. ADL Therapies can assess an individual's functional needs and recommend appropriate assistive technology to support safety, independence and participation. This may include equipment for mobility, personal care, daily living, communication, seating and other activities. Where appropriate, the process may include assessment, equipment trials, consideration of alternative options and preparation of supporting documentation and recommendations.

How do I make a referral to ADL Therapies? You can contact Bek directly to discuss your needs or make an enquiry about an assessment. Referrals can be made by participants, family members, support coordinators, plan managers, carers, health professionals or other members of a person's support network.
